So far I tried using CableNut, which seems to be better for adsl. TCPOptimizer seems to have improved my data stream. Sorry that I don't have any before/after results. I'll be more than happy to post my results from other test sites if someone posts the URL for them. Below are the results of my last speedtest. The times are in CET and the speed in kbps Service: Onvol Sonic time:13:18 onvol speed test: down:4245 up:na latency:na from http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest?flash=1 13:19 speakeasy Palto Alto, CA: down:278 up:259 latency:400 13:21 linkLINE LA, CA down:215 up:225 latency:161 13:24 Sprint Fort Woth, TX down:296 up:238 latency:138 13:25 BROADSTAR Miami, FL down:364 up:248 latency:200 |

well, the results from dslreports.com are REALLY bad. Download speed of less than 300kbps is totally not what you're paying for. However, as you said, a real download went much better than the speed tests themselves. When testing local speed, you may also use www.nethealth.net.mt which is normally a bit more credible than the speed tests used by ISP's. Also, I normally tend not to judge an ISP by speed test results. What I look for is HTTP download speeds at different times of the day/night, video streaming quality (or lack of), VoIP quality, and speed on different P2P networks. Of course, no ISP provides you with such information. Only those who are subscribed to that particular ISP can tell. We can therefore use these forums to report our experiences. |

agreed. guess I just got used to using dslreports.com as it has always given me reliable results when testing my connections in other countries. I previously lived in a small town in Spain for example and the speedtest results actually matched that of my connection here are my results from MCA 21:05 down:3904 up:246.1 Any tips for getting more servers (with people playing on them) via steam in the list for CS? I find about a dozen with a latency of less than 100 and a max of about 6 players :( |
