Onvol offers 10 Mbps "all you can eat" connection E-mail Print

Melita Cable's Onvol are once again at the first position in the local speed race. Their new Internet access package - Onvol 10, offers 10 Mbps of download speed (and a miserable 512 Kbps upload), unlimited downloads, and a static IP address - all that for €65/month. Whether that would be worth paying for or not, it's up to you, but for small businesses, it's probably the best offer at the moment - at least until GO's retaliation.

p2p should not be blocked as the 10 is a replacement for the bussiness plan, I also checked with the tech support and they claim nothing is blocked.

p2p with ONVOL just plain sucks...they always claim that they don't block anything but gah. the same movie takes a few hours to download with GO while it takes a week to download with ONVOL.

After seeing their offer I was almost about to give them another chance (I was with them once). Glad to have found this before it was too late. Sure, they always say nothing is blocked. SHIT! They have traffic shapers and limiters on all ports. P2P is unusable. 10Mbps of NOTHING!

You could do some searh on google and you will find some useful software that helps you out with p2p blockage and you can search about uTorrent so that your download is not slow.

Well it's time to move towards a real ICT island and try to keep up with the current times. The main disaster in Malta is the upload speed. You could even have 25Mb/s but if there is no improvement in the upload speed you would not benefit.

onvol can't even deliver what they are supposed to to their existing customers. Don't know anyone who is really happy with their service. The Blue Skies project seems to have made everything worse. I don't see how they are going to make things better or offer 10Mbits and unlimited downloads without first improving their network here in Malta and until the new cable is operational. Anyway, good luck to onvol and those who sign up. Let's see what the users of this package have to say in a few months.
