The end of October always brings around good offers from the ISPs. It's
because all IT-related service providers use the IT Fair (ITEX from
this year on) in order to unleash their upgrades.
This year, Onvol was the first to announce the changes to its Internet
packages. The major changes were that those users who were on the Onvol
Ultralite plan, with just 256Kbps download speed, now have been
upgraded to 1Mbps, and the plan has been renamed to Onvol Red... Cool
name! The download limit of the Lite plan has been upgraded to 15GB/30
days, and the download speed of the Sonic plan has been upgraded from 4
to 5Mbps.
As expected, GO was quick to reply with improved plans for ADSL. Users who were on 512Kbps download have now been upgraded to 2Mbps. The download limits of the 4Mbps plans were all upgraded, with the highest priced plan having 22GB/month up from 16GB, at Lm13.85. Apart from that, GO is now also offering two 6Mbps plans. The 22GB/month plan is priced at Lm15.85, while the 30GB plan is priced at Lm20.
Vodafone had to respond to this new competition and once again upgrade its WiMAX packages, branded as Vodafone@Home. Now, all the packages have a download speed of 2Mbps, and the low cost packages now have 10GB/month download limit, while the XXL package, priced at Lm9.87/mo has a 40GB download limit.
One can only speculate.. what will next October bring us?
