Melita Mobile raises fees E-mail Print

Melita Mobile is increasing the prepaid call rates. New subscribers will get the new rates immediately, while existing subscribers will be switched within the next month. The previous was 22c per minute, charged on a per second basis. The new rate is 24c per minute, charged in chunks of 30 seconds (12c). To make things look good, Melita aren't mentioning the 24c rate, but instead advertising it as 12c/30 sec. They even had the cheek to send an SMS saying "Dear Customer, from 21.7.10 your mobile rate will be 12c per 30sec to any local number!" (yes.. including the exclamation mark!)

A number of offers are also being discontinued, most notably the one where calls to other Melita numbers were charged at 10c per call. Instead, now there's a limited time offer where one gets free calls to Melita numbers for 30 days after topping up by €10. This offer however is valid only for topups made before 31st July. After that date, no more free calls for you!
