Mobile Mondays are events held around the globe mostly by non-profit
organisations with the aim to bring key people from the mobile and
technology industry together to share ideas. Yesterday, such an event
was held for the second time in Malta. The main topic this time was
"Local Mobile Entrapreneurship: What is Needed?"
The first speech was delivered by Peter Vesterbacka, a mobile communications entrapreneur based in Finland, who highlighted the point that "Risk averse creators who keep their ideas to themselves have no chance of success. Ideas need to be presented and refined to succeed." The event also included a presentation by local startup entrapreneur Claire Zarb, who presented the progress of an ongoing project regarding a type of near field technology that enables the transfer of information between mobile phones and a rugged mobile phone handset that can survive tough environmental conditions.
Panellists included Michael Darmanin, Head of Business, Vodafone; Simon Montanaro, CTO, Melita; Christian Sammut, Head of International, Wholesale and Alliances; Peter Vesterbacka, Mobile Mastermind, Finnish Mobile Association and originator of Mobile Monday; Malcolm Ross, International Telecom Consultant; and Ing. Saviour Zammit, Faculty of Engineering, University of Malta.
