Melita Mobile removes charging of full first minute E-mail Print
Written by HiVoltage

When Melita Mobile was launched, our main concern was that they charged for a whole minute as soon as the call was connected, making it really expensive for those who are used to making very short calls just to say something quick. This however is no more of an issue, because now all calls are charged per second from the first second. With the price of 22c/min for prepaid, now Melita can honestly claim that at the moment, they have the lowest prices in Malta. Whether we're experiencing the start of a price war that will bring prices even lower, we have yet to see.

Lets hope this means prices will go down! Mobile phone calls are still super expensive in Malta compared with our European counterparts, and even switching to post paid will hardly get you cheaper calls or a better deal.

in the UK one can buy a SIM and a 3G modem with a prepaid amount of credit to browse. The customer can later topup his credit. This is even available from play.com http://tr.im/jKAU -- but Malta operators want to become rich in a short time by sticking to contract based browsing plans.. when will we ever learn not to be greedy?!
